The discussion of how Tillich offers a more positive version of existentialism and the discussion about courage was particularly interesting. It stuck out that existentialism can sometimes be about the pointlessness of life, but Tillich posits that courage is about moving forward despite existential dread and continuing to move forward even when everything seems pointless.

Something I found interesting from this video was the reference to the movie Everything Everywhere All At Once. I really liked the mentioning of the ending of the movie and how it states that "nothing matters" which could lead viewers to believe the message to literally be that nothing matters, when in fact nothing matters to the point where everything matters. In terms of existentialism, the movie shows how the realization that "nothing matters" can actually lead people to find a deeper meaning in their own lives. This makes their every choice and every moment in their life actually matter on a more personal level.

I loved listening to this episode. I was planning to listen to it for just about 10 minutes, but ended up listening through the whole clip. I especially liked the connection between Tillich's ideology and the movie "Everything Everywhere All at Once."
Here's my take. Paul Tillich's ideas about what matters most in life and the deep connection everyone shares with the universe relate closely to the movie "Everything Everywhere All at Once." The film shows characters traveling through different worlds, looking for purpose and dealing with life's challenges, much like Tillich's discussions about facing fears and finding meaning in life. Both the movie and Tillich's work suggest that love is a powerful force that can help us overcome difficulties and bring us closer to understanding the bigger picture of our existence. This connection shows how both explore big life questions, the struggles we face, and how love can help us find our way through the chaos. I loved it! Thank you!

I enjoyed the ideas discussed in this episode. I disagree that 2049 is the best sequel ever. It is without a doubt Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight. I also loved the implementation of Philosopher's ideas into a lot of the discussion, such as editing out the sound of the glitter machine and what Tillich would have thought of it.

The idea of androids inventing electric messiahs speaks to how sentient beings, whether the ones God made or humans make, look for purpose in their lives. A key difference between nihilists and existentialists is that existentialists, like Tillich, believe that humans give their life purpose. In a sense, we are our own gods and we also create gods.
