(TW: this episode references suicide and suicidal thoughts).
Pop Queen, Madison Beer - who sung such epic songs as 'Baby,' 'Reckless' & 'Selfish' and now her new single, 'Showed Me (How I Fell In Love With You) - joins me for the latest episode of my podcast 'Reign with Josh Smith' and gets very honest about her mental health! Listen to the full episode here: hyperurl.co/i4yxt0

Madison Beer has amassed a jaw dropping 4.2 billion streams across her catalogue globally since she was discovered by Justin Beiber at the age of 13, when he posted a clip of her singing Etta James on his Instagram. Shortly afterwards Madison signed a major recording contract but by just 16 year-old she found herself being dropped.

But that never stopped Madison, she used her music to help her and share her own unique voice and story by releasing her own independent music. Her debut EP ā€˜As She Pleasesā€™ even made history by becoming the first independently released female artist to score a top 30 position in the US Top 40 chart.

Let's get real, itā€™s bop after bop when it comes to Madison and as she releases her new single, Showed Me (How I Fell In Love With You) she sits down with me to reflect on her remarkable, determined journey.

This episode comes with a trigger warning as there is a discussion of suicide and suicidal thoughts as Madison opens up about her journey with her mental health when she was 19 years old which saw her contemplate taking her own life whilst she was struggling with ā€˜failureā€™ and trauma. Now with the help of therapy, and still battling with PTSD, she is able to bravely share her story with us.

Madison also reflects on the sexism that still persists in the music industry and shares some teasers about her much anticipated album. Plot spoiler: itā€™s going to be a teary listen.

I hope you are just as inspired by Madisonā€™s honesty as I was - it takes real courage to be this honest - and I hope you keep on listening and finding the power to Reign in your own lives. If this episode resonates with you please get in touch (follow me across social media @joshsmithhosts), I love hearing from you. Love, Josh xxx

Iā€™ve always wished Madison would make a documentary or even a mini series on Hulu. People just see her as a pretty face and If they knew how deep and in depth her story is and what sheā€™s gone through.. I know so many would appreciate her more šŸ˜¢ ā¤

I adore this woman so much. People always say how easy she has it, but to this day she still has to prove to some people that sheā€™s not just ā€œa pretty faceā€. She really seems like such a nice person.

9:05 exactly what she said, we shouldnā€™t be against each other and make everything competition, instead uplift each other and pray the best for each other always

I was so suicidal too that's the time when her album came out, I was listening to it and it was calming me down in the way that I knew that I'm already dead inside and nothing matters, I can just cry and drown in my own tears. The lyrics were so perfectly fitting I was dying with her and she was dying with me. That album was the hand that was holding mine and didn't let go and that's how I survived. I can't listen to Effortlessly anymore. I am scared to even try. God bless all of us. We deserve the greatest love. Take care everyone. And don't do it.

This was beautiful, thank you so much. You did it great and made a safe place for Madison, i follow her for years and for what she said in the past and we seen before, it was hard for her to be this vulnerable for other people. So yeah, thank you again. I really enjoyed this. <3

ah thank u for making her feel safe enough to share those feelings with us. forever proud of madison, her journey, her ups and downs. meb, thank u for being so real and raw and honest with us. u are so so so appreciated. so loved.and i hope u always know that. healing takes so much time and is so messy and its not linear at all. but its always important to take care of ur mental health. it doesnt matter if at times it feels heavy and scary and stagnant, because it also feels joyus and exciting and hopeful. u deserve nothing but the best, u deserve peace, u deserve to enjoy ur life however u please. we know ur heart. we know ure a good person, we know u have good intentions, ure such an inspiration to many. fill urself up with love, do what feels good. im so glad ure here, cant imagine ever losing u. we love u and we LIKE u. take care pls, mishu loveu. sm.

WOW. This interview is AMAZING. I was a big fan of Madison since I was 15 or 16 and Iā€™ve always wanted to be like her growing up. Pretty face, perfect body etcā€¦ Iā€™ve never thought that she was going through a tough time just like us. On social media, people ONLY post good times and we never know whatā€™s really going on behind. Thank you Madison for being so honest and vulnerable! I love you queen!
