3D screens, DUHD ultrawide, monitors, and a laptop that actually looks decent for only $250?! It all sounds too good to be true, but that's what Acer is promising at their CES booth this year so we sent Alex to check out out and tear it down to see if any of these laptops are right for you.

I love that all the other laptop manufacturers are bringing all these crazy laptops and Acer is just bringing humble updates and Nintendo 3DS screens to their laptops

Not gonna lie, I wouldn't mind a 4k 3d laptop or phone that tracks your eye movement like the New Nintendo 3DS.

I forgot all about the Acer Predator line of monitors. They used to be the talk of the town for a long time and then seemingly vanished into thin air.

Alex has become my favourite LMG person. I don't understand a lot of the stuff he goes on about, but I watch it to relax. His low-key but very much there enthusiasm is so perfectly balanced.

I absolutely LOVE that you reviewed a cheaper model! Not everyone can afford to shell out 2k at a laptop ;-)

I want a display that does this. It's fine having it on a laptop but restricting it to that really shrinks the market

I actually had an Acer 3D laptop back in about 2010 that used passive glasses and a polarised coating on the screen to split it line by line. It worked really well, I'm glad to see they haven't given up on it.

I've got a 2006 Acer Travelmate 2420 Win/Lin/Hackintosh laptop that still seemingly holds a full charge. It's pretty slow by today's standards. But it works. I bought it new back then and gave it away to 3 different people in my family who gave it back when they got a new one. Every now and then I pull it out to see how everything is holding up. Remarkable build quality for the time and a great match for classic mac OSX 10.4.8. Only needed a jumper in the VGA.

I remembered last CES. It was kinda fresh off of the 3D TV retrospective and I thought it was a shame the craze ended around when the panels were getting good. I really want to see stereoscopic 3D to make a come back in devices.

I appreciate the media controls being built into the trackpad - not sure I'm sold on the execution 100%, but as a heavy excel user, I find myself using function keys (F4 specifically) a lot, and in some cases I'd rather have the function keys available all the time but still have quick access to volume/playback controls. Trackpad may make sense for that.

had my be quiet silent base 601 case for about 6 months now, absolutely in love with it. It's a big black bxo that the loudest noise from it is my 6TB HDD internally. SUPER fun and easy to build in, and lots of quality of life pieces built in including cabel managing and mounting HDD for large storage. Just looooove mine. highly recommend if you're interested in a nonrgb silent case.

The progress Acer has made with their laptops year-on-year is seriously impressive! Especially excited about the Aspire 3D5 Spatial Labs Edition, the improvement sounds significant.

Acer is one of my favorite brands. I got a brand new acer monitor that is 2k, 144hz, 31 inches for just 139 bucks, and it has been running amazing for six years now. Now seeing then introduce real budget options that aren't e-waste is awesome. I feel like way too many brands are just fine to up prices and not compete with spec in the budget ranges. Landfill for no reason. At least these are usable.

As an original owner of the first generation of 3D tv’s I am unashamedly excited for 3D to come back. I knew 3d would come back and now having tvs/monitors with high refresh rates, better clarity and most importantly not needing to wear glasses. This is gonna be awesome! Black Ops 2, Crysis 2, Killzone 3 in 3D was awesome in the early 2010’s. Now that they wont run at 30fps it will hopefully be a full fledged experience worth the cost of entry.

Honestly, the n100 ain't something to sneeze at, I'm using an n100 machine as my home server and it will happily serve up seven simultaneous 1080p Plex streams. I've got a buddy who uses one as a multi system retro emulation box, plays up to Gamecube era games pretty smoothly. It's basically four 12th gen e-cores, winds up being about as fast as an i5-6500, and it's insanely power efficient. We're honestly in a golden age of cheap "low end" machines.

Any other 3D laptop options? What’s the model number of this one? When it’s going to be released?

last year's flow x16 2in1 had a square heatpipe as well. It managed to cool down a 13900h and a 140w 4070.

I just never had a good experience with Acer Laptops, there were always some variant of performance-, thermal-, quality issues. I hope they improved but I'm steering clear of anything other than maybe their monitors
