Irwin Road was originally a dirt trail that was created in the early 1800’s. Even today, a five mile stretch of the road has never been paved. Along this dirt trail stands huge trees and some old foundations where homes used to exist. Many say that one of the homes belonged to an old lady who practiced black magic.

The woman who was considered by locals to be a witch would open portals to dark dimensions on a daily basis, filling the land with dread and evil.

A family - dad, mom, and their children - once lived along Blue Mist Road.

The enraged father returned home from work one evening and slaughtered his family, hiding their bodies in a septic tank.

Their spirits are among those that are said to still roam the haunted street.

"Eventually in around 1915, rumors say that the klu klux klan became attracted to the area, likely due to the areas horrific past and the secluded woods. They used the woods for rituals including lynching various people of religious beliefs and ethnic background on the trees."

It is said that is is unlikely, since the KKK wern't relevant in Pittsburgh during that time.

At the cemetery alongside Irwin Rd, on nights of the full moon the graves of a couple come together and touch as the ghosts of the lovers dance around the graves. They are seen leaning towards each other, separated by an inch or two. These are believed to be the graves of a couple that were deeply in love,
only to torn apart and killed by disease.

Someone on Facebook replied this on one of my postings about this place regarding its history:

“You want the real truth about that property? Well here it is. All the urban legend stuff about Irwin Road, you can find on the web is completely made up. The road is not haunted and none of the properties ever had witches living at them.
That home and farmstead was owned by a botanist who worked for Pitt and his family. He helped layout and plant all of the pine trees in North Park when it was being built. In 1977 Allegheny County forced them to sell their property by eminent domain. They were an elderly couple and didn't want to leave but the county was ruthless. They eventually got forced out of their home. The county rented that house out for years after that to a county cop. The county tried to do the same thing to my parents property but they fought it and won. If you walk up the driveway, it is uphill, when you get to the top where it flattens out the farmhouse was on the right. You can barely tell a house was even there now. Farther towards the back of the property there was a large barn. That's where the Pepsi machine is. It was beautiful big farmhouse with a stained glass window right it the front. The house burned down in the late eighties. People broke into it and set fire to it. One of the reasons I don't like the urban legends seekers. The county tore the barn down some time in the mid 90s. I was in contact with one of the sons of that family. It was his parents wish to have their ashes scattered on the property. They wanted their final resting place to be there because they loved it there so much. That's why I don't like it when people call it the witches house. They don't know the history or people who once lived there. It was truly a sad tale for them. So when you are trespassing up there, just remember that is someone’s final resting place. The properties along Irwin Road were farms. A far cry from the murder and witches cult legend bullshit.”

There is a lot of cleared land that sits back in the woods when you follow Witches Trail . I think there was more than one house that was built there . The next time we go ,we are going to take another trail so we can get to the old fondation without trying to go down the hill . How odd that you mentioned a horse. My friend heard a horse yesterday. My friend got sick in the same location she did last February . The location is where it looks like a creek would be after a bunch of rain . It winds through a bunch of trees right on the road . Black bear have been spotted there. I would like to go back again at night but with people . I felt like we were not alone, and that was in the daytime .
