Inwin has made a follow-up to their DUBILI DIY case that Alex checked out at Computex last year, but this time it's smaller and bursting with character and colour. Plouffe's here to build and build in the InWin POC to see if this new trend of DIY cases is a great idea, or if brands are just tricking us into doing work.

The USB naming standard is so easy to understand now. I love it...

I bought this case back in April 2023. I've bought another itx case from Inwin since then, it's great to see a company try something so visually different. Even with a simple bit of bending it feels nice to "build" it yourself. In case anyone is wondering, those handles are definitely strong enough to carry around a full build even one handed.

A breath of fresh air with the colorway. The design is really neat too.

the good thing about this case coming disassembled is that you can just paint it whatever colour you want before assembling.

I’m glad they provide alternate options for instructions, but I dislike it being an app. I hate when manufacturers make an app for everything, regardless of necessity. I bought a qube 500 and the box just had a QR code to a step by step YouTube playlist.

That's where the ikea effect kicks in and you end up liking the product more after building it yourself. It does look like a lot of fun too.

The fact that this case allows ATX power supply and comes with a riser cable makes it a gem for people on a budget! Small form factor specific components (other than motherboards) are usually more expensive but this seems like a great compromise! Fun video guys!

kinda looks like a slightly less good-looking, more functional teenage engineering computer - 1

A suggestion for InWin would be to be able to make a bending tool out of the cardboard box. Something with 90 degree angels, so that you can use to bend your case into shape and then throw away :)

I like this case as a parent. If my kid's color they love changes, I can order a new panel or two in order to adapt it. Or since this is simple metal sheets, you can really mod this case. Wish it were a little cheaper but a small complaint for the modularity of it all.

I always thought POC was the more polite cousin to POS, but this looks cool, so that can't be it.

POC in general means Proof of Concept though.

That's actually kinda cool! Would love to see if the ATX version is any better! One thing of note: Make sure when you're bending, you're using a flat surface as a guide, so you don't over-bend on one side by accident. I also love how you turned the side panels into cheese graters! XD

I've seen one too many 'PoC' make it to production but actually naming it 'POC' is something next level...

The instructions on the box reminded me of assembling my mom's new bed. The first step in the booklet (which was inside the box) was to put the box upside down before opening said box. Turns out it's a lot easier to get grab a hold of the bedframe when you open the box upside down, but by the time you get your hands on the assembly instructions, it's already too late.

Interesting concept but not sure that I like the final design. Personally I would wait a few iterations before buying because I prefer the clean polished look.

InWin has turned it around so much the past few years - lot more functional while maintaining wild designs, like their CaseMonsters designs, and the POC is only $95, some others in slightly more, while still having airflow any of the older Inwin cases had very little) some of the other ATX cases are only slightly more and in tons of colors. Wild!
