As a Northgym vest owner, I can say the comfort is spot on. It does come with extra shoulder padding which helps. Not noted in the video which is worth mentioning about Northgym is that it comes with 2 sizes of midsection straps so you can better adjust the tightness of the vest.
Also, the plates are side inserts, not bottom inserts which is nice since there is almost 0% chance the weight falls out, if you don't secure it as firmly as you should ( ie user error)

If you don't need a very specific weight but rather just want to find a way to throw weight into a vest you can go the route of one of the hollow plastic airsoft plates and fill it. Most people I saw online filled it with sand. Filled mine with cement and ended up a bit heavier than the sand. Each plate is a little off from each other but I wasn't really worried about getting everything to match or to a specific weight. They fit into the carriers like real ballistic plates do. The plastic plates were $12 a piece and from there whatever the cost of your fill (sand, cement, plaster, etc) that isn't going to cost a lot. Not the most durable but super cheap.

Freedom Strength Co has a good one that is similar to the 5.11 style, it has the same type of metal clips similar to what was shown on the Kensui. Comes with 20 lb sand filler but can fit standard plates. Ive had one for 3 months now and very happy with it for running/walking or functional exercises too.

I think it’s time for an updated video. MIR came out with their slim fit vest, Ethos came out with a plate carrier style vest, Walmart came out with Reebok vests. Love the videos and content you’re creating. Thanks Coop
