If people don't like the music that's fine, but I think a lot of people don't get that Bleachers is seemingly just Jack's fun project to chill out with no expectations. He definitely puts effort into Bleachers and does good tours and stuff, but he isn't trying to scientifically synthesize a pop hit like he does on a Taylor or Lana album, so I think it sometimes seems uneventful in comparison. He just loves doing his little thing for fun in between getting checks from every pop star on Earth, and if people enjoy it, it's even more fun for him.

I think you either get Bleachers or you don’t - people look at his work with Taylor, Lana, 75 and expect the same type of sound and scale which is not what Bleachers is about.
There is also the narrative that you mention around why Jack continues to make songs with Bleachers. I see this as quite clear, it’s his own story and his own creative output.
Since the release of IWGB it’s been a joy to watch this band grow, they’re even playing MSG this year.
This music has been the soundtrack to my life since 16 and has helped me through some really rough times in my life (and it continues to).
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I think there is some fair criticism here. For me, it’s my favourite Bleachers record to date and cannot wait to see them live as much as possible in 2024 :)
Peace and love to everyone who music helps them get through the day x

Hey man, I highly recommend you take a re-listen with a gentler ear. This album is about reflection, grief, loss, connection to spirit, and self reflection. The vibe of the entire album almost feels like a LoTR read where you feel entranced to another realm. In this case, (because of Jack's reflection on Spirit and his connection to "holiness" or "god") Jack transports you to that state of being by creating this album mostly intuitively based.
The symbolism of calling this album Bleachers even though it isn't his first album is also symbolic. He's digging deep into concepts of "new beginning", "returning to roots", "remembering where you started", "remembering who you are". Again combine this with the content of the album (holiness, loss, grief, contemplation), and you feel even more deeply the state of mind Jack is creating this album from.
I find this album heart breaking, soft, gentle, present. Like theres some real presence here. I really feel Jack. I've been listening 2-3 times per day. I think it really paints the times we live in well by giving us his undivided experience on what it's like to be alive right now.
I also am from NJ and share his symphonic and cultural repertoire so maybe that's the reason for my connection to Jack and his music.
Alas, I believe this is a beautiful album and window into Jack. I'd love to see you enjoy it the way I am.

4/10 is crazy theres a lot of great stuff in this album. Obviously theres a lot of springsteen reverence in bleachers stuff but imo this was better than any springsteen album period
And i was half expecting to feel like the album was unecessarily nostalgia bait-y sonically, but i feel like jack's voice and lyrics actually do hold a very unique emotional inflection to me that hits me in places only he really can
