Your point that these problems existed under Obama but were brought to the forefront with Trump is so true. People are acting like everything will be magically solved with Biden and it's some sort of democratic reset, when actually at best it's just going back to how things were in 2015 which included plenty of its own problems...
But, yeah, mostly I'm happy that I won't be forced to listen to that man's voice again

This kind of psychological breakdown is exactly why I can't trust people who play the "it's just politics" game. Who people choose to support plays a part in who they are, and when they support certain people it really speaks to their character. It's not even just in politics, the buisnesses that run this country made that the standard. Watch where they really put their money, it's usually towards oppression and personal profit over equality and sense.

I don't know how you do it, but you are somehow able to take subjects that are very deep, very dark, and very difficult for me to wrap my head around, and present them in a way that I can watch and consume your videos one by one. I can't binge watch Lindsay Ellis's essays because they make me very cynical and pessimistic, but even when you talk about a man like Trump, your tone and thoughtfulness make it easily digestible, even if I struggle with the subject. You're making high quality content.

So I have binged watched eight of your videos in a row (had to end the Antebellum one early because of spoilers... I'll come back to it) but I am loving your content. I commented on this one because I am actually kind of glad that you decided NOT to do the video. I have personally had to divest from politics this year, my mental health is more important right now. The other content that you are doing is very enlightening, well thought out, and very thought-provoking. I am also glad to see someone such as yourself helping to break the bond that is patriarchy. I also appreciate the intersectionality that you have shown of patriarchy and white supremacy. I have definitely hit the subscribe button and turned on notifications...
Now... off to watch your best work, according to you, your Mike Tyson video. Keep up the good work!

The autopsy is important but I feel you. The exhaustion is real.
But, what's also true is the favor he did for the American Descendants of Slaves by ripping away the veneer of progress. Without that bandaid removed, making the case for the reality of our lives was a tractionless effort. Black people being fooled by the consumerism of very public Blacks that economically we were improving as a group. Philosophically, the damage caused by black exceptionalism can be more clearly scene and now, there is a 9 year time limit to any agenda that's Black oriented, options which require our push as a group can be prioritized and not muddled by tried methods that don't work. And, hopefully, some White allies see the truth of who some of their brethren are now. π€πΎ

Wow, as a bisexual trans man I really, deeply resonated with the minority pain you described. I used to be able to watch the news every now and then but even now that he's out of the main focal point I still get anxiety when my dad watches it. Your statement about not letting him get inside our heads makes me want to do the same. Thanks, boss.

7:33 It was so hard ignoring him. He was brought up so much, it made me dislike him more and more. He was brought up by family, media that disliked him, and liked him, memes, he was the only subjects that comedians talked about that made me drop the shows, jabs at him on vids that don't even relate to politics, and Trump Karen's and Darrens... sigh So annoying.
It's great that you were able to block him out, and aware that you had to do it early.

This was not light work but it was illuminating.
