What’s a bit, what’s a byte and what the heck are all those 0s and 1s anyway?
In this video, I explain what a binary number is and why it is so important to a computer – and to computer programmers. This is the first in a short series on binary numbers. In this lesson, I explain how binary numbers can represent the same values as decimal numbers. We find out why a single bit can change a number from plus to minus. And we also look again at the mysterious problem of big positive numbers suddenly becoming negative.
