Dead ass. A young woman and her ghost twin sister trying to run a bathhouse in a small town sounds like an EXCELLENT premise for an anime or manga tbh. Add in some casual supernatural elements like Yokai coming in occasionally to use the bathhouse that the ghost twin works with instead of the living sister.
I would ABSOLUTELY watch/read that. Someone should write that >_>

Personally I found this one to be the creepiest of the Chilla's Art games so far, with or without the ghost elements. I didn't think this was scary because of the ghosts, but because of the situation the main character is in. Because there's elements of nudity with no real privacy, the lack of choice, the poverty, the creepy landlord who's also your boss so he basically has complete control over you, that creepy guy who was probably a sex trafficker or something like that, the fact that everyone in town seemed to be weird, creepy, or not like you, so you had no support system... at least to a woman or someone who's got a history of sexual abuse, this game is definitely the creepiest, I think. At least with the coffee shop game, it's in a public place, it feels less like some small backwater slum where you're trapped and far from everyone, and not everyone feels dangerous. The stalker is creepy but it feels like there's somehow less danger of sexual assault and more of just regular assault.

This was my favorite. This one is more for people who understand the mythos and culture of Japan. The priest was making a specific yokai, an Ubume . The bad ending released her into the world. The good stopped the ritual, and Erena's sister protected her from returning by taking her memories, so she would not go back. The evil monk got a woman pregnant then killed her during child birth. The baby lived though it and was who was locked in the basement. The monk couldn't control the ubume. He, with the help of others in this apparent ghost village, was trying to sacrifice 3 women to control the Ubume. For someone who grew up in Japan knowing the legend of The Ubume, I am sure it is very terrifying. It is kind of like our western cultures Lady in White, or the Spanish La Llorona. A Banshee might be the same kind of feeling for you, Sean. These legends of ghostly women, in a world where woman still don't have many rights and seem to be losing rights, hits a sad note for me. These legends speak to the violation and fear that women face from the world as a whole, and often our only way to find justice is in tales of horror.

So here is basically the story for those who still kinda confuse : The monk at the temple is an evil guy, he want to summon the evil spirit Ubume. Its a powerful spirit born from the death of a pregnant woman. He seduce Yoko and impregnated her. He then kill her but unfortunately for him the child was born before he can kill her. He lock the child under the hatch. The ritual to fully control Ubume required the sacrifice of 2 more women, so the monk work with the bathhouse owner , through threatenen him with curse, to find 2 more women for the ritual, that would be the 2 sisters. In the bad ending, Sean failed to release the child and was capture by the monk. He then process with the ritual. However the vengeful spirit of Yoko is now way too powerful to control, she killed both the monk and the owner ( and Erena ofc ). She likely would then wreak more havoc and eventual would become a full Ubume In the better ending. The son of Yoko burn down the bathhouse, along with the monk and the owner. Erena was saved by the old lady who lost her grand daughter. Yoko still became Ubume and thats probably why Erena lost her memory, cuz that village is now under the control of Ubume
