Thank You Annie, that you care.....I belive there is only one way that can change or eliminate this terrible un-humen treatment in the future - TO TEACH our SONs to respect others, to teach them an empathy, to be an example of correct manners, to educt them to live with open heart, to explain a sence of equality, educate for morale and above all to teach them that only love and peace of mind can bring a harmony into their lifes.... ..A woman-mother should be strong to protect the children from humiliation and frustration - that cause a short circuit in adult behavior. And only such a child / son when grow up will able to recognize the LIMITS and the principal difference between humanity and monstrosity.....
We feel your effort Annie, your activity and involvement in a human and global injustice through the years.... and I'm proud of a woman like You !

As a South African citizen I would like to thank you, Annie Lennox, for bringing this issue to a world audience. I was born toward the end of apartheid and was never directly affected by its tentacles. I do, however, feel that living in South Africa with the high levels of gender based inequality and violence is my apartheid.

Very glad you're doing this Annie - wondering how we are going to make this happen? The whole issue is more out in the open than it ever has been but had no likes or comments when I posted this on Facebook & my friends are on the whole Feminist (women & men), but it seems to still be taboo - talking about difficult things makes you somehow unattractive. But then we are trying to overcome 2000 years + of inequality so I guess it will take a while.

I know someone who was abused by her father and grandfather but no one believed her. I never met her grandfather but the house he died in felt very dark. A lot of Women and gils i've met throughout my live have been beaten and raped by men that they knew and those men never got into any trouble. Perhaps they were never even caught. They just had to move on and deal with it slowly, and painfully. Because no one would listen to them.

Hoorah! I FULLY support your cause, so much so that we are in the process of setting up a charity to bridge the gap between victim and survivor in the UK. It is a global issue that is the root of much disfunction. I am a survivor of abuse and rape myself. It has taken many years to heal the emotional scars and have the confidence to speak out without FEAR. By reducing this intense feeling of FEAR, it enables people to verbalise their situation which in turn reduces the effects of the abuse. :-)

Thank you for doing something great for women in South Africa. In male-dominated societies, the poor, women and children are abused and ignored by and by.
