Livingston here. Flooding is BAD in many areas. Thankfully our place in on a rise in a higher elevation and Choates Creek is taking runoff-but is full to its banks.

We had a really bad flood in Houston about 1973? I think? We had to wade in along the houses and rescue my grandparents.

Born and raised river rat gal. lived on the San Jacinto river all my life. Those people who choose to stay are well aware of the lOOTING that will ensue once they leave. Looters will pull up in boats and ransack every deserted home alone the banks. I was just 16 years old when I chose to stay behind with my dad to protect our home and animals during Alicia. Was trapped in there for near 2 weeks. Many of the homes were looted but ours sure was not.

"They had to use those canoes"
Were they by any chance complaining about hearing banjos and paddling really fast?

WHy didn't they shut down Hwy 59 in both Houston @ I-10 for NB and Lufkin at the loop for SB traffic? We wouldn't be in such a traffic nightmare of a mess!
