This young man Ty is under rated. Way underrated. I am reminded of the band "The Ponys." This is the best of garage rock and I have never tired of it - liked this as a child in the 1960s (listened to whatever came out of transistor radios.

This is so good, its like a band from the 60s inhaled 3 cans of carpet cleaner and made a record

The Kinks, T. Rex, Syd Barrett, The Beatles, Nirvana, Mudhoney, The Melvins, Captain Beefhart, Jesus and Mary Chain, The Sonics, The Reatards, Wipers, The Stooges, early Pink Floyd, Blue Cheer. Did I cover every band that this could be compared to?

I listened to Manipulator and now I am listening to Melted...how can I possibly like EVERY SINGLE SONG this guy does?  that is extremely rare.

I remember the first time I listened to this record, I had just come back from partying with some friends, and still wasn't entirely sober. I was in a mood where all I wanted was to listen to some awesome records, so I began by listening to Salad Days by Mac DeMarco due to my friends raving about it. The album ended up being a very solid record. Then as the album came to a close I looked at the suggestions and this album popped up, so I put it on, and holy fuck. From track one I was fucking hooked, "Finger" dragged me in, I sat in silence for the entire album, wondering how someone could do this with music. I didn't realize this sound existed, see I have a rather wide-ranging musical taste, and its as if Ty Segall took everything I loved about psychedelic, glam, punk, metal, and shoved it in a blender, to make something so profoundly different from anything else. Perhaps the musical equivalent of any great Surrealist painting, such as the Scream by Edvard Munch, just as Edvard Munch used strange colours that swirl together and forms only vague shapes, that gives off a deep sense of the alien. Ty Segall does something very similar, he takes strange sounds mixes them and creates a masterwork, creating something so different and alien, that only he could have made. The record feels almost schizophrenic, the way he goes from Caesar's fluttering flutes and hippy-ish vibe straight into the heavy distorted sound of the opening to Girlfriend. Its almost as if with this record he was trying to do something no one ever really did before something new and anarchic, like he didn't care what was popular in the mainstream, like a "fuck you" to all the shitty, uninspired music that makes up too much of today's sound(not saying this "my generation's music sucks", the good stuff's just underground). The result of this is something visceral, anarchic, and absolutely beautiful, a true masterpiece for the modern era

This is actually among the most beautiful distorted drugged out albums I have heard.

The way that piano comes outta nowhere ~ 5:00 like a glob of metal off a spot you torched on too long then suddenly it's just drippin' all over the place.

This album changed my life at 18. Slowed me down a bit when I was overactive. Thanks Ty.

fucking hell, this was released in 2010, this album is 12 years old! I remember first hearing it a few years after it was released, it still sounds new to my ears, it was when mac had viceroy out, i remember discovering Ty Segal and Mac Demarco around the same time, damn that was a good time for music, don't really know too many more artists like this these days with that raw sound mac and ty had, although just heard one of the best new raw tracks the other day, Lonely Gimmick - Grumpy Days, I like his other work as well, kinda this vibe but like more old school funky with some Hendrix guitar

I cant thank my music producer friend enough for bringing Ty and this album to my attention, he first showed me I wear black, reminded me of the black lips a bit, but this album was something else, you can hear how his sound has evolved into something all his own, we were hanging out in his room drinking, we were at uni together at the time, we were surrounded by all the recording equipment on his desk, we were studying music production in London, he had like 7 guitars and three bass' plus a couple of keyboards, and this is in a small tiny London flat with other students, listening to this album brings back vivid memories of his place, I could describe it to the smallest detail but only while this album is playing, once the music stops the memories go with it, its crazy how our minds connect memories with music, i wanna throw him some love as he's we've been through a lot together and he's shown me a lot of amazing music over the years, he was the first to introduce me to mac demarco as well, he's just released a new track, please try searching Lonely Gimmick - Blue Ticked Influencer ,you may be in for a surprise and he would love to hear your opinion

His voice often reminds me of Bowie or Barrett; he and Jay Reatard always sound English when they sing. Love it.
