I lost my best friend in 2016. My best friend and I used to jam to new music we found on a daily and share. I remember the day before he passed we listened to dermot’s music together for the first time. This was before he got big. A year later I went to Dermot’s show in Dallas, stag, and tried not to ball like a bitch. Now to this day I get chills from his lyrics and timing of it with the music. I like to play covers but I haven’t even tried Dermot’s because it’s so distinct. There’s no way to do it and hit the nail. No matter how talented you are. I just enjoy it. Pure talent.

Imo I’ve never heard anybody sing or write more beautifully about pain or love the way he does. The level of perfection he is on is a first ever for me to witness and I had the honor of seeing him at the Ryman in Nashville. I only knew Glory then and what a magical night and surprise to hear the other songs live for the first time that night. It was extra special and I have great videos from that night. ❤❤❤

Just discovered Dermot through this video. There is something about his voice that touches and stirs up the soul. It is very comforting and I feel like I’m being embraced unconditionally.

In the meantime since I first heard this mix, Dermot's career has taken off tremendously, just as he deserves. And to this day, this older Dermot/Shadows + Dust music holds up as absolutely incredible and has only deepened in meaning as time goes by and we get to hear more of his music. He is genuinely such an incredible musician, poet/lyricist, and creative soul. He actually saved my life with the spirit in his music and this mix in particular has helped me through many a hard moment.
