Local civil sailors tend to think they're way more qualified than they are and we end up fixing their "repair jobs" all the time.
Navy is WAY too particular to the point where we don't get anything done.
Coastguard is very organized but easy and willing to work with us, jump in and get their hands dirty or even assign guys to help us fix their engines and props that aren't part of the contract but is "good training" for the newer members.
Definitely my favorite customer 😁

All of your references to Rangers are legit. I was in Special Service Forces from '89 to '92 and loved reading books about LRRPs in Vietnam during my downtime. I've forgotten half of what I learned but there were so many tips and tricks casually thrown into their stories. Rangers rock.

When I deployed to Iraq, we were IN the staging area, loading up onto the busses when I discovered that one of the boots had somehow neglected to bring a sling (and his team leader had somehow not noticed). I ended up blowing a perfectly good daisy-chain of 550 cord to make him one. Felt pretty awesome to see him still rocking it on the way home after 7 months in country, though.
