Hi Is, I enjoyed your comment, but for me the visual elements here mark a move for Missy from a place of darkness and lack of control to a more vibrant place of truth.
Initially her body/ her life are intruded upon by others who seem to be taking from her very being. She responds "Open up my chest and take what you like". In the amazing resurrection sequence, she takes the risk to choose life and she is supported in her choice. Missy finds life and authenticity.
It's a Masterpiece, bravo.

This song is about not being ashamed of who you are, the video clip is to express that even further, if you dont like what you see then you obviously dont know much about Missy. She is not desperate she simply has a love for music and art and uses it to express her feelings and stories.

When I was in 8th grade my choir teacher showed me this song. At first I didn't think anything of it, except for how nice it sounded. Later on it occurred to me that this song was her way of telling me that she understood my confusion about my sexuality and that she wanted me to be "unashamed." I love my teacher and I love Missy Higgins for being that link between us.
