When Shirley (Mayor Pufnstuf's sister) comes to Living Island to make a movie, Jimmy and Freddie get parts in it. Together they hatch a plot to get Witchiepoo into the movie so that Jimmy can steal her Vroom Broom to escape.

H.R. Pufnstuf is the story of Jimmy, a boy with a talking golden flute named Freddy, whose adventure begins when he climbs into an abandoned sailboat on the shore of a lake. But little did Jimmy know that he is being set-up by Witchiepoo, the evil witch who wants his magic flute all to herself. Luckily though he is rescued by a kindly dragon named H.R. Pufnstuf, the Mayor of Living Island where almost everything talks. All would be happy, what with dancing trees, singing frogs and a lollipop that owns a candy store, if it wasnโt for that mean olโ Witchiepoo who keeps coming after the flute.
Sid & Marty Krofft are pioneering puppeteers, icons of childrenโs television and Emmy award winning producers. Over the past 70 years these two brothers created countless characters that were Saturday morning TV favourites on shows like H.R. Pufnstuf, Land of the Lost, The Bugaloos and Sigmund & The Sea Monsters. I loved this show when I was a kid. I had a huge crush on Jack Wild. Absolutely adored him in Oliver. But, sadly, one more child star who met a sad end (I think it was an overdose or something). Still get a little weepy. RIP, Jack. ๐

TV Land absolutely wore this episode out when they aired H.R. PUFNSTUF in the summer of 2004. Seriously, they aired it every single weekend, it got to a point where my dad and I would start quoting, "MAKEUUUUUPPP!!' before Puf would come in and pummel Witchiepoo with that giant powder puff. Come to think of it, I can't help but wonder if that giant powder puff wasn't some subtle way of Sid & Marty sticking it to the network for their initial dismissal of the title PUFNSTUF because they thought it meant a powder puff?

I hope episodes like this can remain on YouTube for all generations upcominng to watch. This was for many kid's 'tv entertainment' in the 70s. Great characters never left you feeling bored.
