Very relatable.
I've caught a pretty bad cold and only head out for uni exams (wearing a mask within the hall ofc) and haven't had a lot of energy to go Christmas shopping, and since time is running out for Christmas, I wanted to buy gifts that could be delivered instantly so I can have them ready for the day. I chose gift cards for each member of my internal family.
I read online that gift cards are unthoughtful and many people hate them, but I'm not sure if they will be received like that. Here's why:
- I bought my Mum a gift card from a famous body care company, because I know she loves their products, but only she knows what her care products are for her. She also wanted to visit their physical store and buy something there, so I thought it may encourage her to enjoy herself.
- I bought my Dad a 3 month Audible subscription because last year I got him a Kindle and he's been loving it, bringing it with him to work and reading it any chance he gets! I also know he likes to chill out and close his eyes later on in the evening, listening to the radio. I thought he might like to pick an audiobook to be read to him while he relaxes.
- I bought my sister a gift card from a famous coffee company that she hasn't been to, and is always looking for new places to try. Their coffees are cheaper than most famous coffee franchises, and is quite close to her college. I thought she might like to enjoy somewhere new, where their coffee tastes quite good, and she can get at least 7 coffees from the gift card.
- I bought my uncle a gift card from another famous coffee company since I know he loves to visit this cafe every Friday, buying either a white hot chocolate or an Americano. It means he doesn't have to buy coffee for a good few weeks.
Also, it's not as if I don't "gift" them regularly either. I always provide new content for games, make food for them, run errands whenever possible, create things. I make sure they know I love them all very very much. They know that I've been under the weather recently, so I don't think these gifts are unthoughtful as specific cards were bought according to what they like. What would be unthoughtful, is buying the same card for each person despite knowing they hate it. Plus, they all have personalized messages.
Are these good gift ideas?
