The most heartbreaking part about this scene, other than Andrew's rage just being shown full force, is seeing Matt pleading with him to stop, to the point where his voice is going hoarse from doing so. Seeing the emotion in his face from 1:56 to 2:10 go from simple "Please stop" to just to him realizing that his pleas are going unanswered, that Andrew is too far gone and he can't bring him back just makes my heart sink. And then there's that last few attempt where he says "Don't make me do this!!" right before he kills Andrew. The fact that he's crying right after he does it tells you all you need to know.
All three characters suffered, and at the end of it all, Matt had to deal with the guilt of having to kill Andrew and the fact that he could have saved him (and by extension, possibly even Steve) if he had been there for him more and understood what he was going through.

This wasn’t just Andrew descending into madness....
This was Andrew losing his grip on his humanity, unleashing years of repressed rage, slowly but surely going feral, and succumbing to his inner demons as he destroys everything and everyone around him.
I love how the entire movie showed Andrew SLOWLY but SURELY descends into a monster, even though he never wanted to in the first place. It was well paced and well timed.

This has to be one of the most haunting, chilling finales of any superhero flick. It feels so real and raw, and is very emotionally engaging. You know Matt cares so much for Andrew, yet Andrew has completely gone overboard and has unleashed his full power upon the world.
Too bad Trank burned all his bridges and completely went berserk during Fant4stic. He had a ton of potential, but now seems to be forever stuck in director's jail with only one cult hit to his credit, sort of like what happened with Troy Duffy.

1:45 one of the swat team member is keeping his rifle aim at Andrew even if he's being blown away, that's badass

What I love about this movie is the subtle and slow build of someone so damaged and so hurt that they just want to scream so loud that the world can feel their pain. I really identified with Andrew because there have been times in my life I wanted to lash out and nothing in the world would stop me from causing as much pain as I had endured. Not even the pleading of a true friend. This movie was truly a modern telling of an ancient tragedy. Felt it to my core.
