"Same on both sides" falls short though, a ball toss is much more affected by the wind because the ball is still and thrown high up into the air. Especially with a tall player like Zverev whose serve is a big weapon, he's not likely to wanna give up his serve advantage on a crucial point like this. And it's understandable he doesn't want to do a fake ball toss. In my opinion, umpire discretion is needed. In windy conditions, maybe a bit more leeway with the shot clock.

Zverev's right. I got to play doubles on court 5 two (2) days ago at the Miami Open. I had to chase the ball on my kick 2nd serve toss, because i throw it up higher to hit the ball on the descent. The wind was so very very bad that day, that any attempted lobs were blown out of the court. Yes, it was that type of windy day.

I was on the empire's side .. but Zverev made a good point about players tossing the ball for a fake serve to gain time while waiting for the wind to pass, it's no different than waiting 5 seconds for the gust to pass
