Back in 2013, Lana had two concerts in Brazil. I adored this song. I was dating a guy, and we went to the concert in Rio.
However, he had access to the VIP area. I told him, "When you notice that 'American' is starting, come over here, and I want to kiss you." He asked, "How does it go?" So, I sang close to his ear, "Play house, put my favorite record on."
Around the middle of the concert, "American" began playing, and I headed towards the exit of the VIP area to wait and see if he'd come. He did come. And we kissed. It was one of the most wonderful kisses I've ever experienced.
That's a memory that has stayed with me till this day.
Just last week, I was searching for his name on the internet (he's a well-known ballet dancer) to find out how he was doing, and I discovered that he had recently passed away.
He tragically fell from the balcony in his house, and investigators suspect it was a suicide. It's so hard to believe that this person is no longer with us.
Damn, Denis, I hope you still remembered me, even after all these years. You were a wonderful part of my life, and I've always carried your memory with me. I probably always will. You were a significant and cherished chapter in my life. Your memory remains vivid, and I will continue to treasure it always.
