To reach Bhimbetka rock shelters, one can follow these directions:

1. By Air: The nearest airport to Bhimbetka is the Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal, which is approximately 45 kilometres away. From the airport, you can hire a taxi or use other public transportation to reach Bhimbetka.

2. By Train: The nearest railway station to Bhimbetka is the Bhopal Junction Railway Station, which is well-connected to major cities across India. From Bhopal, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach Bhimbetka, which is around 45 kilometres away.

3. By Road: Bhimbetka is easily accessible by road. It is located about 45 kilometres south of Bhopal, the capital city of Madhya Pradesh. You can drive to Bhimbetka via National Highway 46, which connects Bhopal to other cities in the region.

Once you arrive near Bhimbetka, you can follow signboards and directions to the entrance of the rock shelters. From there, you may need to walk a short distance to access the main site and explore the fascinating rock paintings and shelters.

The entry fee is just Rs. 150 ($1.80) per car. There is no entry fee for the caves.

Fascinating place and all of the eras of rock paintings. I have never heard of this location and I studied anthropology and archeology in college. I was robbed! Vimal is such a great guide.

I've visited India quite a few times but not in the middle - I think it has to be on my list to see. Your guide was wonderful - he had the same style of delivery as many of the guides I've used. I agree it's worth engaging someone to get the full background and enhance the experience. They are not expensive and impart loads of information. In all my visits I only had two that were a bit "dodgy".

Recently I visited Bryce Canyon Park, Yellowstone National Park and Grand Canyon in the USA. I never thought that a Rock City thousands of years old would be similar to Bryce Canyon rock formation. Just amazing.....Government of India has done a great job in making this a national treasure. And how clean the place is....I plan to promote this place and forward this video to many.
