Like that feeling when the sun comes up on a winters' morning and despite the fact there's a clear blue sky, you still need to rug up because the breeze is blowing and there's nobody around to keep warm with...
Frank's voice has this deep, soulful and often intimate feel to it, yet the music and lyrics have a loneliness and a bleakness to them. This song and 'Solo' are two great examples from this particular record. Yet where a band like The Smiths (another group I'd describe as 'bleak') bring to mind dark, overcast skies and rain-soaked streets in some grimy northern English town, a lot of Franks' stuff brings to mind the blue, open skies of California, Miami or the Gold Coast and that sense of being 'lost in the crowd', those times where you're not alone physically, but it feels like you might as well be...
Best way I can describe it if I stop to do so, and probably the best I can explain why I keep coming back to listen again...
