About, Funk is a music genre that originated in the 1960s and African-American musicians, who combined soul with jazz and R&B to create a rhythmic music that was easy to dance to. De-emphasizing the melody and harmony, it has a strong rhythm with the bass and drums in the foreground. The word itself refers to something strong, rhythmic, and implies with properties of the body.
Funk Like all African-inspired music, funk typically consists of an intricate groove composed of electric guitar, bass, drums, and Hammond organ. Also, in funk you can hear instruments such as saxophone, trumpets or even trombone, which usually have their own, separate parts within the piece of music itself. The music is slow, sensual and particularly danceable.
Many of the bands that played funk are also known for their careers in disco and soul. Funk has particularly influenced music such as disco and afrobeat, and has been used in other genres such as hip hop, house, and drum and bass.
