I started/had the idea for this PMV a while ago when Swiftsnow was talking about how this song matched Brackenheart. I found a really nice of cover that I wanted to use and sketched the first few images. Then I let it sit for months… and decided to turn it into some sort of late Christmas gift for Swiftsnow! I thought that a lineless style might be a little easier and faster to do. I was wrong, but I decided to keep going and finish it up and it took so much longer than I would’ve liked. But now it’s done and looks okay.

You might also notice I experimented with the palette. All the colors (except eye colors) in this PMV are actually the same hue, but with differing brightnesses and saturations. It worked really well for some cats’ designs, but not so well for others… (*cough cough* Acornbloom and Mottlescar cough they look naked *cough cough*). The grey cats just looked normal, so I tried to give them a slightly more saturation, but I’m not sure if it worked.

Anyways, story explanation: Brackenheart was a ShadowClan apprentice who got in trouble with her leader, Brindlestar, for speaking out against her. Brackenpaw was banished from ShadowClan and was later welcomed into ThunderClan by the leader, Grizzlestar. She faced initial distrust and missed her home. Most eventually grew to trust her as she gained her warrior name except for one suspicious tom named Spiderash. Unfortunately, Brackenheart developed a crush on him. She started spending more time around him and one day, he voiced his distrust, hurting Brackenheart’s feeling. After some thought and conversations with other cats, Brackenheart decides to confess her feelings to Spiderash which takes by complete surprise. He’s unwilling to admit his own growing attraction to her and Brackenheart tries to prove her affection by cuddling him. Spiderash decides to wait and give Brackenheart a chance to prove her trustworthiness as well before admitting that he might… maybe… possibly… like her.
