The whole series was worth it for the Hotel Chester. It was just a story of good people dealing with tragedy and hardship with just no way out. We can rag on the show for a lot, but in this singular episode I think it is fair to say they really did help save these folks. I am so happy for them and wish them all the best.

I worked in a hotel earlier this year. When people make the beds for yhe new guest, they will first strip off the sheets and outside pillowcases from the previous guests' use. Then they put on new sheets and new outer pillowcases on the old stuff. The mattress pad, comforter, and inner pillowcases on the bed are rarely replaced. One of the Heads of House (middle management housekeepers basically) told me when I worked there that she was in a meeting where the manager had complained that I took too long, and my Head explained on my behalf that the only reason it took me so long to make the beds was because I was regularly going to the supply closet at the end if the floor or down to linens to replace the heavily stained comforters and mattress pads. No one else had apparently been doing that even though it was supposed to be a part of the job. Next time you book a room for any hotel, I advise to request that the bed or beds get new pillows and comforter. You can say it's because of an allergy if you feel the need to.

I used to work at the restaurant that took over at the brick hotel after the episode aired. Verindar still runs the hotel part so she would lurk around occasionally and take our rags (???). I think the main appeal for the brick hotel is that it's haunted (and the restaurant there now has pretty epic steak)

I think there's a problem with stats here. Just like with restaurants, the majority of independent hotels close within the first few years due to failure. The ones Gordon goes to are already failing. The fact that he's saved over half of those is actually really incredible.
To ignore every variable stat on an issue is how we get people saying that more whites are jailed than other races, while ignoring that whites are the majority in our country by almost 90%, so the stat has to be taken into consideration.

About the blue light scenes, most likely a lot of that fluorescence is actually cleaner, whitening agents in laundry detergent flouresce under black light. Also blood doesn't flouresce unless you spray luminol onto it, so it's unlikely any of it is blood unless he's spritzing luminol, which I didn't see. (Just so everyone feels a bit better about the cleanliness of hotels)

My husband and I stayed at The Brick a few years back without realizing it was on Hotel Hell. It was spooky as hell. Also the owner had told us the resteraunt was closed so we ordered Dominos and waited outside, and she literally stood on the porch glaring at us the entire time we were out there?? Was just a really weird experience.

watching this show as a teenager made me so scared of hotels (in terms of germs, i'm already a huger germaphobe, for a while I wouldn't sleep under the covers or use the showers in ones I stayed in) but now my job is cleaning hotels and actually they're pretty okay. I don't really trust the kettle or spare blanket though. They barely get cleaned

The fact that every single episode of Hotel Hell has Gordon's naked butt in it cracks me up everytime
