i get what you say about abigail's voice lacking some grabbing point but oh my god the last dinner party are so incredible and emotional live, abigail puts her whole heart and soul into singing these songs

Their songs don't have a big drum presence because, of all instruments, that's the one that the five main members of the band don't play. I guess that not having a permanent drummer, when the band writes all their songs (at least for this album they did), results in the drummers staying more on the background

I describe this band as a combination of Marina Diamandis (formerly Marina and The Diamonds) with Queen. And I ADORE IT I love every single track on it including the Ghujra interlude.
I am incredibly excited for their future projects.

as a side note to the industry plant conversation: a big part of the discussion in the UK is about the fact that they went to a 40k tuitions term private school, and adds to the larger conversation about how most of musicians and actors from the UK that make it are all privately educated- james mcavoy talks abt it in an interview!! if you look up a lot of the uk nominees from the brit’s this year (TLDP, Dua Lipa, Arlo Parks) u can see for urself lol

I love this album bc it's so much more varied sonically than most are. There are lots of genuine surprises. I find it quite creative and hard to pin down, which is wonderful.

also the note troy made about it sounding like theatre, that's part of the attraction for me, the album feels like a piece of art. with my autism it makes it hard to appreciate music, it usually just voices to me. even their live performances are so dramatic and Abigail moves with their music and its beautiful

Last Dinner fanatic here! From what I know tldp was performing music for around a year before they were picked up by a label. They have responded to a lot of the industry plant allegations by stating they had a lot of connections to other people in other bands which were able to provide them with gigs and such. Also, all the members have known each other for quite some time, and as Troy stated in the beginning of the video neither of them have industry parents.

saw the last dinner party as openers for hozier in december, and i was so pleasantly surprised, i had the absolute best time watching them. this album is a masterpiece, hope you loved it !!
