In Alaska the Natives pronounce that almost exactly the same way. It’s amazing to see how far Inuit Culture is spread.

If you say fermented, it gives the same idea as rotten but in a good way. Love learning about Greenland. ❤

Yes, and also the whale fat (Muktuk) is high in omegas and antioxidants and the good cholesterol in its fat, so its perfect for providing energy while out in extreme cold. I studied the Inupiat people in my Native People and Sustainability class in university.

In a cold climate these foods must have been vital for nutrition.

I love crow berries... I live in Kenai Alaska. Incidently, the are a stronger antioxidant than blueberries.

Qupanuk! My best friend and I love your shorts and are planning a trip to Greenland because of you, I want to get her some earrings like yours for Christmas! Do you know where I could find some like them? Preferably artisan or made in Greenland! Thanks if you see this!

Super interesting! Is it raw? Does it taste better raw? What species is the whale and seal blubber?? Sorry I have so many questions. ❤

Oooh I'd love to try these foods. I love traditional food. I'm in the UK and I drink raw milk from a local far, use beef tallow to cook and have a more traditional 'old fashioned' British diet of mainly animal foods, potatoes, onion and carrot. I mainly use onion for flavouring though not eating. My grandmother gave me a cook book from 1930 and the difference in British diets now is huge. We once cooked everything in animal fats, now people see them as unhealthy.

I love this lady and her family. Shes so jolly 😊. She looks just like my bff (who is native Hawaiian not Inuit) so maybe the familiar face makes me like her more.
