Wibble Rugby: The New England Way | Why Brilliant Borthwick is England's Messiah

In the wake of a surprising performance at RWC 2023, England is on the brink of an exciting new era. With the spotlight intensely focused on the new England, Head Coach Steve Borthwick has orchestrated a masterstroke. By enlisting Felix Jones, a two-time World Cup-winning coach; Richard Wigglesworth, a savant of the kicking game; Tom Harrison, a scrum connoisseur; and Aled Walters, a strength and conditioning guru with world champion credentials, England is crafting a game plan that whilst revolutionary, unapologetically harkens back to the key strengths of World Champion English Rugby.

Today, we're not just revealing the strategy behind England's gameplanā€”we're diving headfirst into the style that could redefine Test rugby as we know it. With an astute blend of cutting-edge defensive maneuvers, a precision-focused kicking strategy, and set-piece plays that merge innovation with the old bulldog spirit of English Rugby, this game plan aims to turn England into an indomitable force on the rugby field.

Grab a beer, sit back and enjoy. It's one hell of a story.

Seriously I actually just learned more about rugby in this video than I did in 10 years of watching games.

Following the England win over Ireland it must feel awesome to be Wibble rugby right now. Literally everything he mentioned started to click during the game.

Having come to this recently, I've been heartened by your extremely positive analysis of Steve Borthwicks 'new England', especially in the light of such media negativity. 12 hours after Englands' brilliant performance against Ireland, I salute you sir as one of the very few that got it right!

After rwc semi final no one in rsa was doubting borthwick. He punished us using similar tactics to how we beat france. Not identical, but similar. Kick chase, tap back, back row and centres present to either challenge the break down, or ball carry. Relentless outside in blitz defence. We did not enjoy facing our own game and it made us look awful. Us saffers are very tired of the world calling our team dumb lumbering beasts when in fact, as your video demonstrates, our team is incredibly intelligent. We had not faced our own tactics but we worked out a path to victory within the confines of that single match. Pity for england they dont have a better scrumager than ellis genge... if his knee hadnt hit the floor on that last scrum england would have been in the final.

Itā€™s refreshing watching and listening to somebody who sees things how I do, and then adds further layers! I couldnā€™t recommend this video enough.

Absolute breath of fresh air compared to a lot of stuff you see in the press. Rugby is such an intricate game and it's very often dumbed right down to 'why don't they run the ball more?!' that it's actually infuriating sometimes! It's so good (admittedly because I'm a total nerd) to see proper analysis from someone who really knows his stuff and it does, really, make you feel good about what this England team might achieve if they get things right. Thanks so much for your hard work; I look forward to watching more of it.

Quite excellent. Brilliant, illuminating analysis. I may even try to stay sober while watching tomorrow now, to apply what I may have learned. Thank you.

Finally, someone talking intelligently about Steve Borthwick and England! Firstly he pushed the world champs and eventual winners to the very last minute. Within 12 months of taking over! Iā€™ve said for ages that you can see that every week they get a bit better. One loss to a good Scotland team in Scotland and itā€™s all doom again. And then today we beat the Worlds number 1 team.

Finally some proper rugby intellengce. "Good defences cause errors". I see so many people and commentators saying how bad X player is for making this mistake or Y team has really cumbled instead of giving the other team credit for forcing the mistake. Love actual good rugby analysis. But if you go watch the game at a pub theres still people saying 'england just keep kicking the ball away'.

Absolutely excellent, intelligent analysis and explanation of Borthersā€™ long term plans. I learnt so much from this and have subscribed to the channel. Wibble Rugby needs to be on one of the TV channels. He is much more informative than the ex-pros.

Thank you for some actually good and intelligent rugby content, this is 1000x better than anything served up by the various has-beens and attention seekers on the podcasts and tv coverage!! We need more of this. This stuff will help engage audiences and grow the game, not romantic notions of ā€œfree-flowingā€ rugby. Amazing stuff. So glad the algorithm suggested this to me. Thank you!

This was an amazing video. Instead of having a glass half empty view of Englands progress we can all have a glass half full view. Every England rugby fan should watch this video and then we can all have smiles on our faces and back what is being done. Thanks for making so it enjoyable and easy to follow.

In 2007 they also had an immense pack and came very close. Changing room revolt, they went back to basics to face the Springboks again in that tournament.
