I am german-lithuanian heritage and live between Vilnius and Zurich. Super happy to see Germany and Lithuania working as allies. Both nice and interesting countries. Vilnius is growing really fast and glad to see back up from stronger allies, Lithuania needs is at this time. Defending Lithuania is defending the very border of Europe and European civilization. Behind the border we have belarus (de facto occupied) and ruzzia. Barbaric countries.

I remember former german defence minister Peter Struck saying in 2003 that Germany’s security needs to be defended even ‘at the Hindukush’. Consequently almost 5,000 soldiers went to Afghanistan. The Baltics sounds much more reasonable, i have no doubt that Pistorius can find enough men and women who are willing to defend our security at NATOs actual borders.

As an American, I think it is just great that Germany is stepping up defend its partners in NATO. With the current climate it is best for NATO to depend on its own resources and not to have to depend on the US -- unfortunately we are getting self-centered.

I am Lithuanian and lived in Germany for more than 5 years, I am grateful for Germany for stationing troops here, it really bolsters sense of security.
