Upon the High Mountain is a folk melody from Crete, an ode to the Sun. Being part of a long legacy of proud Cretan songs, its lyrics tell the story of a proud eagle who pleads to the Sun to rise and shine, to melt the snow from his wings and the ice from his claws.
The song is performed here by Thanasis Kleopas (the Wandering Melodist) on an ancient lyre masterfully handcrafted in Greece by the LUTHIEROS family.

Filming took place at Oikia Karapanou, a beautiful 19th-century mansion at Aegina Island, near Athens.

🎙️ Who is Thanasis Kleopas, the Wandering Melodist?
Thanasis Kleopas is an ancient lyre and guitar player with many performances around the world, such as in Thailand, Japan, India, France, Italy, Germany, and Switzerland. He combines traditional music with the ancient lyre and tries to produce emotion-provoking music. He performed in the past in churches, schools with kids with special needs, museums, and even fashion shows such as Dolce & Gabbana summer show in Milan.
