When doing unpleasant tasks I find it helpful to take the mindfulness to thankfulness. Instead of being annoyed to clean the kitchen, I try to be thankful for having a kitchen and food to use dishes for. Or a floor to clean, meaning having a home to keep us dry and warm. IÂŽm not exactly sure if that IS mindfulness but maybe taking charge of your emotions and turning them to a more positive thinking is also mindful and aware. Thanks, Vera, for another thoughtful video. I really appreciate you and look forward all week to your next video. đ

Great video, thank you! Regarding multi-tasking, which I've never been a fan of ..... a few years ago, in the states, some agency did a big, nation-wide study on multi-tasking in an office-setting. They discovered that workers in an office setting who were multi-tasking, had accomplished 34% LESS by the end of the day, and made MORE mistakes, than the workers who did one thing at a time. Don't know how they figure out this stuff, but it makes sense to me! So here's to doing one thing a a time (for me at home, anyway)!

One of my therapist's speciality is mindfulness and I find it to be beneficial even though it can be hard to keep it in mind from time to time. To me, mindfulness is something to practice every day because I notice that it is when I stop being mindful (most of the time it's like: "I'm feeling good now, I don't need to be that into these mindfulness exercises" etc) then I become less and less mindful.
Mindfulness helps me stop overthinking what other people might think, the "secret meaning" behind their speech, etc. I now have this "only caring about what is actually here". I hope we can all work on being mindful and living peacefully and simply.
Have a nice day Vera! đ„°

This is something I need to practice daily. I struggle with past pain and listening to what others have to say that is important. My mind wonders and I can easily be distracted by situation that happen in my head. Made up stories, thoughts and conversation that make me cry or feel some way where I end up shutting down n wonât talk to anyone. Itâs crazy how I never think just to be mindfulness with everything and learning to understand it is possible. I want to be mindfulness.

Thank you so much for this video! I practise mindfulness since about ten years now, and the hardest part is letting go of my phone games when I feel bored. :) The thing I did when I was really annoyed about house cleaning was to use a stopwatch and measure the time some chores really took. I hated housework because I thought it SO time-comsuming. And using a watch showed me it was not. That was an eye-opener. Now I just do those things thinking about nothing else but doing them, and enjoy the nice feeling of a tidy place and cat-litter-free floores. The type of meditation that works best for me when I am home and have our cats arount I call cat-itation. When I'm upset or anxious ot stressed, I sit down and just watch the cats play or sleep, or touch them and listen to them purr for a while. It works perfectly for me.

I started using my phone in a gray-scale mode. It really makes everything less 'attention catching' and 'triggering'. Plus it makes me want to put my phone away more. Thank you for your tips, I think by aiming to do just 1 thing a day mindfully takes this pressure away of having to be mindful at all times, which is not possible. I will try to practice mindfulness a little bit more each day now.

1. Mind won't shut up. I asked my therapist if there was a step I was missing or just needed to practice more to shut out the distractions that were pulling me out of my meditation like practice. He tested me for adhd and found I had a severe case that went undiagnosed for 42 years because it's primarily inattention and impulsive emotions. Because I was a human sponge as a kid, my grades never suffered, and I had a set routine my mother set as a kid (get home, feed and give attention to outside dog, get snack, do homework, dinner, evening relax after all homework was done). I worked quickly so it was less noticeable when my attention span ran out. So if the struggle continues without improvement, it might be worth a few minutes being tested to see if it's something that needs assistance changing. I know the meds have helped me greatly over the last month, and not just in being more mindful in my day.

When I come across the feelings of doing mindfulness wrong, I have to remind myself that sometimes it just doesnât click and you just have to find a different way - having a handful of tricks, I call it my âemotional toolboxâ - is helpful so that if one approach doesnât work, I can try something else. Be good to yourselves some days are more challenging some days are easy. simply showing up is always the first step. Be wellâ€
