I know people who took 10 years to get a work visa. Thats why people come here illegally, not only it’s an expensive process, but it takes years and there is no guarantee that you’ll get it. Even if you marry a citizen, you better have money and time cause you’ll wait years for a work permit.

My in-laws are wealthy and well connected. When I was in the process of immigrating, they couldn't understand how slow the process is, and how they just couldn't call their government friends and accelerate the process. I watched it get them so mad, and get somewhat radicalized against the whole system.

I get why Charlie avoid politics but he does seem very typical Florida. Kind of lives in the bubble. Sadly most people around here are like that. I never understood why Floridians are so politically docile. I guess most people move here for beers on the beach and as long as they get that they dont question much else.
