FYI. John's lunch is no more, land sold to a developer. But fret not, just down the road is Pleasant St. Diner and they are just as good if not better (some of the staff from John's Lunch). Next time you must have clams. Sorry to say, the farmers market has moved several in past few years, it lost its charm, but the brewery market (the original ) is still there and still has its charm. The donair sauce is, can milk, vinegar and sugar.

there is much better then johns lunch in this city. They went down hill after they broke up in two different business called pleasant street diner. But there is also Sams Seafood who receives fresh fish right off the boat @ 630 am every day and his portions are huge and prices are way cheaper. And welcome to donairs but cheese umm no just tom, onions and donair sauce and tony's is pretty good. And it's always best to leave the tinfoil on other wise you will be a sticky mess because the sauce breaks down thinner and drips like crazy.

You finally made it to my home town! I'm from the Annapolis Valley but have been in the Halifax area most of my adult life if I was living in Canada. Glad to see you made it to John's lunch for fish and chips. There are dozens of places you can get fish and chips that I'd be proud to present. The Halifax waterfront is a wonderful way to spend a morning or day for visitors and locals alike. Bicycle Thief restaurant is my favorite restaurant of all time. Food is spectacularly good! And donairs too! Man, you really packed in the Halifax experience all in one day. Glad you had a good time! Thanks for sharing!!
