Keith Tkachuk played for Winnipeg, St. Louis, Phoenix, and Atlanta. Winnipeg had a chance to draft Matthew Tkachuk, and they passed on him for Patrik Laine. Arizona could have drafted Brady if they had traded up one spot with Ottawa, and they opted not to. So there is a precedent in place to draft the best player that fits your needs, regardless of family pedigree of alumni players that used to play for the team.
But even with that precedent in place, there is just something special about the prospect of Tij being drafted by -- and playing for -- Calgary, the team where his dad made a legendary career.
Edit: BTW, Luv ya, Noodles. Always have, always will.

So what happens when Tij gets drafted by some other team ahead of us? What if it’s a team that Is at the point total and therefore position that we would have been in if we hadn’t won those two games when we were supposed to go 0-14-0-0 for the remainder of the season? Or more, presuming we win another game before the season ends. Which I really hope we don’t do.

If you guys truly believe that you take the best player available when it's your turn to pick, why are you bothering to talk about Iggy's kid and getting fans excited about the idea of having another Iginla and putting Conroy in the position of considering picking Tij Iginla ahead of other players he and his staff ranked higher? Something tells me you guys believe the story line of drafting Tij Iginla is better for the Flames than picking the best available player, but you don't want to admit it out loud.

Bozo Owner. Maloney & Bean didn’t know there was going to be a drop off from last season. How could you not see it? Reason: Corporate Culture. It’s depressing. Blackberry phone company is an example. They scoffed at iPhone and doubled down on keyboard phones. It happens all the time when the top down management is brooding in the way Murray runs things. Job autonomy and creatives minds get stifled. If TIggy becomes a superstar and we draft one or two spots below, this is the gift that keeps on giving . I was literally against putting so much pressure on the kid by drafting him to his fathers team, but at the same time, the PR would be welcomed.
