My interpretation is that the two birds have depression , and that is said wire. One bird tries to "fly" away from depression and be a happier person, trying out new things, talking more, etc. And when she sings "he wants to aswell but he is a liar" he doesn't want anyone to start worrying about him so he too, participates in things. I feel like the singer in this might be apart of this story. Friend? Lover? I don't know but when she says "There's nothing I won't understand. I Believe you all, I won't let go of your hand." shes basically telling the one still stuck in depression that she understands what he's going through and will understand his feelings and emotions if he wants to vent about it. And when it says "two birds of a feather" meaning that they were very close friends while they had depression, and that "they'd always stay together" but that breaks up when one of the birds gets better from his mental illness, finds more friends, etc, and slowly leaves the other bird alone again. "But one's never going to let go of that wire, he says that he will but he is a liar." Is talking about how he says that he's feeling better and that he's letting go of his depression when he's not, and in the end when she sings "Two birds on a wire, one tries to fly away but the other. ." Could possibly be the depressed bird committing suicide.
