This coyote has lived on this farm for almost three years. He has a bad foot, possibly from a run-in with a car, and is lame on his front left leg, as is evident at the end of the video, if you can stand to wait until the shaking has slowed down!
Last spring I saw two vultures in the pasture and followed them, as they flew to a creek. Beside the water, this lame coyote was lying, skin and bones. The winter had been hard on him. I caught him eating from the horse manure pile, but figured that he was eating other things, too. But then I realized that, since he was lame, he was starving to death, as he could not chase anything down. I ran to the house and got a bowl of dog food and he's flourished ever since. His weight is fantastic. I feed him two cups of dry dog food every evening. It's starting to get cold around here now and he saw me in the pasture with the horses, and since he knows I feed him, he showed himself, even though it was mid afternoon. I fed him at his normal time.
