The trumpet you hear beginning at 5:46 was played by my late father. He never got much public recognition for his contribution to this song, but I always told him the song wouldn’t have been the same without him! We miss him everyday!

All generations get nostalgic, sometimes for good reason, other times perhaps not. Undoubtedly and objectively, the 80s was big for music and cultural changes. It was also nearing the end of an era of genuine freedom (no pun), innocence, light-hearted fun and hedonism. Nobody was cancelled, nobody got offended at pronoun misuse, nobody was locked down and the massive power and wealth grab we're enduring today wasn't even conceivable at that time. Everyone was having too much fun to care about serious stuff like that.

I don't think people know how ground breaking this video was. First the innovation of the mini-documentary at the beginning and then the actual visit of a Western pop band to China. China in the 80's was still a closed communist society and nowhere near as open as it is today. It would be like a band visiting North Korea today.
