Perhaps one reason no one heard this record is because of a ridiculously over the top negative review from hipster taste makers Pitchfork when they were writing their worst turn of the century snarky reviews.
The thing CvJ does so well is atmosphere, space, and tone. The beats are not so complex, and they don't need to be to lock in that unbelievably gorgeous ambience.
I always felt Erik was unfairly maligned and wrongly compared to BoC. This record was the soundtrack to my 20's. I really wanted Erik to play my first music festival in Vietnam. I still hope someday we can share a stage together.

The wide frequency range on CvJ albums are the best at blocking out noise. I can study in a noisy coffee shop by turning on this album, even on shitty headphones it sounds good.
