humidity 100% also has to do with how the shield grows. Even with sulcata, who dig deep tunnels in the wild where the humidity is a lot higher. Between the shield plates it becomes too dry and the shield plate pushes up. a friend of mine, who is a reptile vet, wrote an article about it once
