I absolutely love your nuanced take on this. I agree that “cancel culture” can be a very good thing at times while ALSO it can be a vehicle for just straight bullying. I do also agree there’s a lot to think about with loving drama/tragedy/horror and what that says about the viewer. There could be many reasons like you said- feeling like you’re better than others, experiencing your own trauma again in a “safe” way or even exploring your anxieties in a “safe” way. It’s all fascinating I love how you tied this together.
