"We sweat for a nickel and a dime"
This is one of her most underrated song. The producers worked on this song for a year and make it about a country that is great yet they wanted to shed light on the story of immigrants. Rihanna is the perfect immigrant to sing this song. This is a very powerful song with a strong positive message for young immigrants.
This song and video deserves more recognition.

I don't know why, but this song made me cry. If you're second or third generation Americans; we seem to forget how hard our parents fought to get here. My mom for example picked strawberries in a field and dreamt of getting her education... she never achieved that dream, but she had children that she passed the torch to. I'm the first in my family to get their bachelor's degree, on my way to become a Physician Assistant/Master's Degree and I dedicated my degree to her; I physically gave my degree to her. It's easy to forget the blood, sweat and tears that was invested into us. We can be anything. We are blessed to be in this country. Imagine all the possibilities. Never forget.
Update: I’m done with my first year of Physician Assistant school. Going to practicing medicine in a year. My mother is doing fine, she’s healthy and now, I’m going to be her medical provider. Thank you mom. Keep your head up guys. Keep fighting, keep pushing forward!

7 years after, I'm still loving this song ; I got it into my skin even though I'm not an American citizen and don't live in.
However, I always close my eyes breathing out and breathing in this American Oxygen from my little country "Gabon🇬🇦" because I always feel and act like an American. May God bless America! 🇺🇸🙇🏾♂️🙏🏾
