You know if a farmer shows up to the emergency room, they are at death's door.

Cases like these make me extra sad because this was an honest accident. He wasn't being dumb and fooling around with medicine, taking 10 times the normal dose on purpose for a joke or to impress someone. He knew what he was doing and it went wrong because of something outside of his control.

Reminds me of something that happened to an old chef I worked for. He was a cattle farmer and also used chewing tabacco (this will become relevant) and had a similar experience with one of his cows. He got kicked in the chest so hard that he went into cardiac arrest and was barely able to call his then girlfriend to get on the phone and call 911. He ended up in a coma and seemingly made a full recovery. Fast forward a week after he wakes from his coma, and he gets a lung infection. This was from the chewing tabacco he had in his mouth, which he swallowed during the kick and some got lodged in his lungs and created the infection. He went septic and was put in a medically induced coma. This time when he woke he had some sort of brain damage and couldn’t read, walk, talk, or anything. He had to relearn how to do all of that. After hearing that I was very surprised that the man is even alive today.

There's not much that's as heartbreaking as hearing Emu say the words "at autopsy".

My wife knew this family and is familiar with the accident. Micotel has no antidote and NIOSHA recommends using other much safer antibiotics. They also recommend single dose loading of the hypodermic injector......one dose, for one animal at a time. Also recommended is a hardened carrying case to transfer the injector to the stall where it will be used. All stalls should be solid built and if possible the ones next to the working stall vacated. Lots of ways to die out here in the country!

Jeez, I didn't realize he died until you said "at autopsy." God, that's so tragic and senseless. What an awful reason to die, from a freak accident like that. I feel for his family, I hope they're alright. That's so sad. I'm glad, at the very least, that he got to know his family loved him and were coming to his side and probably got to see them for a second before he hit the floor. Poor guy. God rest his soul.

One of the rare cases you've covered where the patient not only could tell the Doctors what happened, but was actually truthful about it too.

My dad got bumped when trying to give a cow an injection, and instead, he got the full dose. Fortunately, it was for tetanus. When he went to emerge, the doctors chuckled and told him he now has lifetime immunity. Watching this was horrifying, because it could have been my dad.

Oh his poor family. JC worked a hard honest job to provide for his family and they all suffered from this terrible accident. Much love to him and his family <3 I hope his family is doing okay and JC is in a good place <3

It's rare to see a video on this channel in which the poisoning isn't caused by someone's sheer stupidity and is simply an accident.

My heart sank when he said ‘at autopsy’. What a terrible freak accident. I hope he at least got a glimpse of his family before passing. Just a working man doing his job.

Everytime he says autopsy instead of recovery, my heart drops a little. I feel for JC and his family.

This may explain why my grandfather, a cattle farmer, had his chutes set up so the side you climbed up on and worked on the cattle was outside the field with the other animals. Until this video, it never occurred to me that one of the other cattle might get persnickety when your focus was on the cow in the chute. Gramps always had a lot of common sense. Wish more had rubbed off on me.

I have a degree in agriculture and I'm impressed with your correct terminology. Lots of people don't understand words like "heifer" or "squeeze chute."

The wild thing is accidental needle pokes/injections happen more than one would think. Cows can be unpredictable. You can take every precaution and end up with something like this.

At least JC didn't do this on purpose, and told the doctors what happened. Edit* jfc 7.6k likes? Don't think I've ever had so many people agree with me on anything lol
