Join Roy Ice and The Bible Lab Global for an interactive conversation about the character of God. In this series, we take a look at the life of Elijah. This week we'll take a look at 2 Kings 2:1-15 and see that Elijah did not actually go to heaven in a "fiery chariot," but instead went to heaven by different means.
A free PDF of the study guide is available at:

Join us each Saturday at 10:30 AM (PST). Roy Ice leads out in this innovative Bible study on the character of God from the Loma Linda University Church campus.
This week we will ask these questions:
• Why do you think that God announced to the other prophets that He was going to take Elijah
to heaven before it happened? What does this say about God?
• Why do you think Elijah seems to intuitively know that the Jordan River will part if he strikes
it with his cloak? Do you think God puts those thoughts in people’s minds, or does He honor a
person’s expectations with miracles like this?
• What spiritual inheritance does God have for each of us? Is it the same inheritance for everyone?
• Because of early artists’ depictions of this story, most people picture Elijah being taken to
heaven in a fiery chariot. But Scripture tells us that Elijah was actually taken up in a whirlwind,
much like Jesus ascended into the clouds. So, what message do you think God was trying to send
by using the visual of fiery horses and chariots (which are a symbol of power and might) between
Elisha on the ground and Elijah ascending to heaven?
• What does it say about God that He empowers and gives credibility to the young and inexperienced
spiritual leaders? Why does He not make Elisha earn the power to do miracles (because,
seriously, he’s a young man and it’s not that far to swim across!).
