Fun fact: Kenny Brack's crash is 214G, It was the highest g-force ever survived in human history, even acknowledged by Guinness World Records

12:10 The worst accident of all time. I actually can't believe Kenny Bräck managed to survive over 210G's...

It's a shame Dario's career ended how it did. I fully believe he would've been a 4 time Indy 500 winner if he continued racing

The zanardi crash is by far the worst accident I've ever seen where no one lost their life... I was 8 and I still remember it so vividly.

Kenny Brack also holds the record for the most survived G’s ever, but not sustained G’s as it was only very temporary.

As a NASCAR fan in addition to Indycar, Kenny Brack's wreck from 2003 at 12:08 reminds me a lot of the wreck Geoff Bodine had in the Truck Series 3 years earlier at Daytona in terms of the car or in this case truck being completely destroyed. Luckily both men survived their respective wrecks & would race again.

I took my son to that race at Mid Ohio, that crash was unbelievably violent live. It was also the last season Bobby Rahal raced. I have several souvenirs from it, including a scale model car autographed by Bobby himself and the race program book.

I Katherine Legge's accident at Road America was absolutely brutal and she walked away.

Given you were avoiding fatalities and life-altering injuries, the top 9 were prime stuff. I would personally put Sebastien Bourdais' 2017 Indy 500 qualifying crash ahead of the Hinchcliffe crash, though. And, an honorable mention to Spencer Pigot's 2020 race-ending Indy 500 crash.

That Dixon crash in 2017 was absolutely crazy. Thankfully he came out of ot unharmed but if he hit the wall and fence at a bad angle i fear it would of been much worse

If I remember correctly, #3 was the highest G-force recorded that a human survived? 214G's was what Kenny Brack (sp?) went through? Someone, please correct me if I am wrong.

Some of the most brutal crashes at indy I remember are from the 60's and 70's. You should dive into them to see why they have the safety measures they use now.

Regarding Sato's incident at Pocono, his onboard camera later showed that he kept his line and never went off of it. Rather it was Ryan Hunter-Rey who drove up from inside, hitting Rossi in the middle who in turn ended up hitting Sato who was on the outside. Dario Franchitti was the first one, even before Sato's onboard camera footage was shown, to come out and said Sato wasn't at fault, and he was right. Too bad none of the commentators never apologized to Sato for automatically deciding him as the cause of the accident and strongly criticizing him for being reckless. This was particularly true with Paul Tracy who never seems to have kind words for the Japanese driver. We all know Sato and his kamikaze driving style, which makes him both dangerous and exciting at the same time, and he's been criticized in the past for it. With that said, this kind of unprofessional rush judgements are unfair to Sato and only hurt his reputation more than he deserves. Give the man a little more respect. After all, he is the two-time Indy 500 champion.

The worst looking Indy Car crash of all time was Gordon Smiley's crash, and it's not even close.

The fact that Brack hit 214G and survived is insane. So lucky the bottom of the car hit the fence pole first too

Don’t forget drivers like Patrick Bedard, who survived a horrific crash during the Indy 500 in 1984, and Kevin Cogan who survived a horrific crash in the Indy 500 in 1989, there are many other incidents and accidents I don’t remember right now.

I saw Servia's crash from across the track.(turn9) A big cloud of dust, and out of that comes a car doing a one and a half with a twist. After the dust cleared, it was gratifying to see (through binoculars) that the car had landed upright.
