The sub's camera is one of the most brilliant and effective horror mechanics Iāve ever seen. You donāt just get to see what's in front of you. No, you have to consciously choose to see it. 19:44 What I like so much about this part, is that if you start thinking about it, the ocean of blood probably has no sources of light whatsoever except for your camera's blitz. So really, what you just did in that moment is flash light into the eyes of an animal that is probably hyper sensitive to light and piss it off very much

SPOILERS: The eye looking into the camera scared me so hard. I didn't think use the camera at first so I check my location 4 times to confirm I wasn't right in front of a wall before I remembered that I could just use the camera. Most terrifying thing ever

"Hope is as illusory as starlight" You know what's awesomely terrifying about that line? In a universe where stars literally disappeared, you'd still see the stars in the sky, because how long it takes for light to travel the vastness of space. The light of stars that no longer exist.

Fun fact: You could actually see out the porthole if it wasn't covered, the entire map isn't just rendered by the pictures, but is actually right in front of you, with a little modding you can remove the porthole and move through the map with a realtime view of what's ahead of you, it ruins the experience for a first time play through, but it's great for exploring the map for secrets and to analyze things
