This just shows how good Ringo really was. So many different beats. This was a drummer who LISTENED to the music he was supporting.

Fun fact: when Ticket To Ride was released it was actually considered a very heavy song because of its drums. Compare that to the release of Helter Skelter just a few years later to see how quickly the Beatles pushed the limits of pop music

He wasn't explosive, flashy or bombastic, isn't mentioned in the same breath as drummers like Bonham or Moon, but he was absolutely the perfect drummer for the Beatles. Everything he did was very original; he had his own distinctive "voice" on the drums, and everything he added to these songs fit in so perfectly. He's rarely recognized or celebrated for how good he actually was.

I'm 70 years young, and have listened to the Beatles since '63, and I am amazed at how familiar a youngster like you recognized more of their songs than I did. I didn't even get half of them right. Good job!

Thank you so much for doing my quiz, David! Considering you're more of a pianist than a drummer I thought you did very well still! :)

I got 14 out of 20. I think this solidifies why Ringo is untouchable. he never just kept time. He played unique parts for every song. As important as any guitar riff.

That was honestly the best example of what a great and varied drummer Ringo is.

What i really liked about this quiz is that, as itā€™s played on electronic drums, you canā€™t go by the sound, but have to know the part. Big fun.

Two things that are nice about listening to these in isolation (and noting how special/individual each of these are): 1] It helps explain why Ringo Starr is on the short-list of ā€œGreatest Drummers Everā€ for virtually every drummer Iā€™ve ever known, andā€¦ 2] it pretty much puts an end to any lingering question anyone might still have as to ā€œWhy did they let Pete Best go?ā€

I used to think ringo was kind of a crappy drummer, but I think I was too focused on just like, drumming ability. Drumming isn't a sport, and ringo's strength as a drummer was in part writing. He never had to do anything fancy, just write parts that fit the song well, which he seemed to do almost effortlessly.

Ringo is a drummwriter, nobody serves a song like him in such a unique way. Very entertaining, I was like you but in a different order.

Iā€™ve always said that Ringo is the only drummer where you could recognize almost any song by the drums alone.

It's amazing how much the different timbre of the drums affects my ability to recognize the songs. I think I'd have gotten more of them if it was the isolated original drum track, but it's an interesting quiz like this.

19 here! Missed Strawberry. Ringo is a genious, so simple but some complicated at the same time!!! He did something quite great and unique. You can hear 1000 drummers, but you know when Ringo is playing, and that's huge. That tecnique, triplets and fills, would last forever. Regards from an Argentinian Beatles fan who also plays as Ringo on tribute bands!

I'm a drummer. I grew up with the Beatles in the 60's and 70's. I had the Ringo Ludwig drums (wish I still did). I love Ringo's playing. I was sure I was going to nail this. I'm ashamed to say I only got 6. Damn he's a great drummer. His timing is impecable.

I don't usually pay attention to drums, but when they kick in in A Day In The Life, that has to be my favorite ever drum moment. He blew his mind out in a car - - - šŸ„šŸ„

Biggest takeaway; really great to hear Ringo's genius in isolation like that. Drums can easily be taken for granted when there's so much more going on and built on top.

If this doesn't convince you that Ringo is an awesome drummer, nothing will. Great quiz!
