Basically unlike JLR or Volvo, MG doesn't exists as a brand anymore nor they make and design their own cars. Chinese SAIC just purchased the brandname of MG and sells its SAIC cars from china under MG brandname in Global markets like in india,
Its similar to Indian Mahindra owning Jawa,Yezdi,BSA Naming rights and selling mahindra developed Bikes under these names but these companies no longer exist for a very long time.

Ownership of Volvo and JLR is quite different. The new parent companies I.e Tata and geely have given their companies money, and have had them function on their own completely without interfering. What MG basically is, is a Chinese company owning the rights to the name MG and pasting it on their own cars. Personally not a fan of this deceiving marketing becoz most ppl do believe that it is a foreign product, but as a business it seems to be working.
If I’m not mistaken this is similar to Jawa and Yezdi motorcycles.

My personal take in this is to avoid any brand which has deep R&D in china , you can go for other car companies there are many car companies in india and foreign nations .As you know now days even cars can be used for spying (mainly ev cars )so beware
The final decision is yours if you want to buy chinese cars then go for it and if you want to buy cars from other regions then for other car companies .

Comparing JLR to MG is like comparing apples to bananas 😂. Better comparison will be between MG and Royal Enfield. In-fact Royal Enfield is more British of the two, as RE design language still carries the same DNA as from the WW era where as MG is just badging the below average chinese cars with the MG brand and selling it here.

I've worked with MG and Mr Rajeev chaba, this is a pure Chinese company and there's absolutely no relationship with Britain whatsoever. They started selling when make in India movement was on peak and India was highly boycotting Chinese products, that's why they portray MG as British company. The truth is that when MG was about to launch in India, they did not have a single model of MG on British roads and all the vehicles they brought in India for showcasing the global lineup were from China. They had mg 3 (hatchback) , emg 6 (hybrid sedan) , mg zs (compact SUV) and mg hs (full size suv) in those shows

Let me break this down: Every MG (or any Chinese product for that matter) that you buy as an Indian, some money from that investment goes to SAIC as profits. SAIC then pays taxes to Chinese government. Chinese government then invest some of that money into Chinese military hardware including fighter jets, tanks, border roads, military airports in Tibet. In short we fund our enemies.

Finally, you're the only YouTuber who has confirmed the similarity between the MG Comet AV and Wuling Air EV. I posted the same observation on approximately 50 different automobile review channels on YouTube and faced ridicule from anonymous users (e.g., User-38927hsgg) only! Thank you for raising that!

This needs a part 2. In the same lines what about maruti suzuki? This company is listed and traded in india, R&D is majority indian(atleast nowadays), but the major stake holder ia suzuki Japan and maruti even pays a royalty and IP rights cost to suzuki japan for each car sold in india. So is this indian or japanese.
My opinion, it is japanese because
1. 60 % of earnings per share of suzuki japan company flows from maruti suzuki india company.
2.The core senior management team of maruti suzuki is all Japanese.
3. Investment decisions are made in japan.
But tell me who considers this as Japanese.

MG India's ownership with partial ownership also makes a business sense for India as JSW can work on India-specific designs instead of repurposing the Chinese ones. It should also help JSW increase its metal works business and learn the details of automobile production, similar to what happened in the Chinese context.

Interesting fact- The first British East India company boat that reached India to rob our country was named Hector (August 1608 AD). Well played China😅🥲
