Harry Edward Nilsson III (June 15, 1941 – January 15, 1994), known professionally as Nilsson, was an American singer-songwriter who achieved the peak of his commercial success in the early 1970s. His work is characterized by pioneering vocal overdub experiments, returns to the Great American Songbook, and fusions of Caribbean sounds. A tenor with a 3½ octave range, Nilsson was one of the few major pop-rock recording artists of his era to achieve significant commercial success without ever performing major public concerts or undertaking regular tours.[2] The craft of his songs and the defiant attitude he projected remains a touchstone for later generations of indie rock musicians.

My Dad loved Harry Nilsson, especially this song, he was a medic in the Vietnam war, born in 1948, he would have been 74 in 2 days. I lost him 11 years ago and I play this song and sing along as if he is right here with me. I won’t let him leave my love behind ❤️

I was 18 years old when this song was released. The Vietnam war was raging on and I was scared that I would be drafted. I had a beautiful girlfriend. Hearing Nilsson’s incredible voice singing this incredible song takes me back to 1968 and a pivotal time in my life. Thank you Nilsson. I wish you were here with us

I close my eyes and let this music flood over and through me and I'm not 70 I'm 18 again. Just graduated from high school with my whole life ahead of me. Where has the time gone?

I'm only 52 but as a child in the 70's, my mom played this song all the time. She's 74 and her health is failing. It takes me back when I was a tot living in our 2 bdrm apt. Dad always at work or fishing so that gave me a lot of time with her. My mother made me love all kinds of music. This one is one of my favorites. ❤

Who's still listening to this great song during the 2021 and 2022 pandemic? Or in 2024 because you just love this classic.

I was born in 1963 and I think we were privileged to hear the most beautiful music ever written from the late 50's to late 70's.

I was only nine years old. We had arrived in LA from Boston and were moving to California for a change of scenery. We were driving in the car and l heard this song. I get reminded of the miles of orange 🍊 groves as we cruised beside them. One thing is, that when l hear this, l get transported back California. I love to play this and other early seventies songs. 🎵 ❤
