MY LETTER TO U2-1987 I saw you guys on the Joshua Tree tour in 1987 at MTSU-Middle Tennessee State University Saturday November 28th 1987. The Bodeans opened up for you. I remember at the time Larry had a crush on Wynonna Judd and she came out and sang a duo with Bono! I didn't have tickets to the show. A friend of mine drove us 3 hours from East Tennessee to see the show. We bought tickets at the box office for $18.50. We ended up 8th row center stage! I remember back then the band held back tickets for fans who were willing to make the drive and couldn't get tickets via phone or record store locations. Thanks again to Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr for making a special album and tour! I was 18 and had just graduated High School that year! All the Best! Gary Lagstrom

Tour. Truly the most important band since 1980. They created a sound in rock that wasn't there before. They were the future.

Recorded in 1982 and has better fidelity than modern rock.

Incredible. Takes me back to when I was 16. Bono's voice was like a choir. Jesus, they were so good back then.

I love Bono and always will. He is a great man. Loves his wife and children and will never be swayed by anyone else. What a man! I love you Bono xx

I wish I was that mature and thoughtful when I was 21. The confidence Bono had at that age, on and of the stage, is remarkable.

This is awesome. I was 13 when I first heard "I Will Follow" around 1980 and it shaped my musical tastes dramatically. I was a bit of an outsider embracing U2 in those days, but I've never looked back. This period of their career was magical, powerful and ballsy. There was certainly more to come. Thanks for sharing.

I wish U2 would play more of these old classics on tour these days like "Celebration" and "Rejoice" and "Eleven O'clock tick tock"....

It has been so long since those days when U2 was a compelling rock band. The last 30+ years have steadily eroded their legacy, even though they have somehow remained big. I had almost forgotten how exciting they were back then, but this brings it back to me.
